Visual Hierarchy

The term visual hierarchy refers to the perceived ordering of content within a page by the reader. Alignment, color, emphasis, and proportion can be used to add visual hierarchy to a page. Without visual hierarchy, a page that consists only of text would be flat instead of drawing attention to a specific headline or topic.
